If you are anything like me, you jump on the very latest products and/or software that promise to make you more efficient, less cluttered and basically save you time. Well, now you don’t have to anymore because I’ve compiled a list of 10 of the best time-saving business tools.
I have slowly (very slowly) come to realise that by trialling and testing all these new tools that promise the world, I was actually wasting more time than I’m saving. Nope, I don’t think that’s the definition of ‘efficiency’ but that was the impetus for this list.
Some of these are quite new, others have been around for eons, yet this is the ultimate list of lists – but I can’t take all the credit. A troupe of amazingly efficient keyboard jockeys have assisted in the production of this list of 10 of the best time-saving business tools … again, saving me some time (I’ve gotten very good at delegating) but don’t just take my word on it, see for yourself:

- Toggl: Want to see exactly how much time you’re wasting online? Of course, you do! (not) But, just in case, this awesome time tracker keeps track of the time you are spending on each task on your computer all day long. The key is its simplicity – the tool is an online stopwatch that runs on the background as you check and reply to emails, peruse Facebook and watch cat videos… or dog videos, whatever you fancy. Then you can audit yourself and see why you really don’t have as many hours in the day as Beyonce – because you’re too busy watching her on Youtube.
- LastPass: All hail the app creators that coding this piece of genius-ness. Until uncovering this gem, I was certain the early stages of dementia had begun to set in. Too many passwords, not enough grey matter – that was the problem. Now my plethora of passwords are saved in one place and the app opens on ALL of my computer and my iPhone. It also tests the strength of each password you add, can separate them into folders and remind you to change them as well as offering to generate them for you. Hallelujah!
- Buffer: Social sharing and curation for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ AND Pinterest for free! Wait… yes, I said ‘free’. It’s almost like a secret I don’t want to share because I’m afraid they’ll start charging me. So I’m going to aim to continue flying under the radar and say no more – except check it out while it’s still free.
- Slack: Instant messaging for you and your team. It’s super simple, just add your team members and away you go. You can download the app on your phone or laptop, or use it on the web – all you need is an internet connection and away you go… Constant communication!
- Dropbox: All your files at your fingertips, no matter where you are. Need I say more?
- Evernote: A place where you can write, collect, discuss and present in one workspace. You really need to try it out for yourself to get the true feel of the things this app can do.
- iCal or Google Calendar: Diary lovers rejoice! It’s 2017 and you no longer need to carry around an encyclopaedic-size date book. Know where you’re going, who you’re meeting and what day is family dinner. I even schedule in all my gym workouts and phone calls I have to make so that I never miss a thing!
- IFTTT: If This Then That (otherwise known as IFTTT) allows you to craft recipes to make different services work together. For example, I can create an IFTTT recipe that automatically uploads my Instagram photos to my Twitter profile or my Dropbox or Google Drive. There’s no end to the list of applications and services you can make work together seamlessly.
- Mailchimp: Sending out a newsletter manually is so 2006. Mailchimp takes email marketing off your list of chores. This tool is one of the best free tools you’ll find and is packed with features that offer a range of newsletter templates, list segmentation and automation. And there’s a paid version too that offers loads more features.
- Uber: In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, Uber may not be exclusively a business app but it will save you time and effort when you need to get from A to B quickly. The ride-sharing app is simple to use and will ensure that you’re never late for a meeting again.
Now you have our list of 10 of the best time-saving business tools, what’s your fave app or tool that you cannot live without in your business?

Wow are you in my brain? I literally can’t live without any of these with the exception of “Humin” which I haven’t heard of before. I will definitely be checking it out. Great list 🙂

Stopped over via Blogging Boost.
Glad you like – they certainly keep me sane (most of the time) x
There are several of these that just landed in my NEED pile! Thanks so much!
Happy to help! Trust me, they are all my saviours 🙂
This was so helpful – Thanks!
Lovely to hear!!
I love this list! I’m a huge iCal fan, I love IFTTT and 10 (Humin) just blew my mind downloading as we speak. I teach group fitness classes and am constantly forgetting peoples names. I am trying so hard to work on it and this sounds perfect! Kate, Wondrous x
Great list! I use a lot of these tools you mentioned, and they’re all absolutely vital to my blog business. Buffer saved my life, Toggl is so useful to know where your times mostly goes to, Dropbox is THE solution (along with Google Drive) and IFTTT is so genius I couldn’t believe something like it existed when it first came out. I highly suggest everyone goes and check out those tools you mentioned! PS: I’ll have to check LastPass because I keep hearing about it but I can’t bring myself to trust an app for all my passwords T_T
It took me a long time to come around to LastPass too, but my brain just simply couldn’t keep up with the multitude of passwords I’ve accumulated any longer! haha
So awesome, thank you for these great tips. Just before I read your blog I thought I should be using my time more efficiently! xx
Hahaha, glad to be a productive distraction 🙂
Awesome list!
